Joint Diploma of Technology/Bachelor of Technology - Ocean Mapping

The Marine Institute’s joint diploma/degree in Ocean Mapping produces outstanding graduates with solid technical skills to collect, manage, analyze and disseminate ocean data. Delve deep into the ocean to examine the ocean surface, the water column, the seabed and the seabed subsurface. You’ll train in marine surveying equipment, optical and acoustic remote sensing technologies, oceanographic instrumentation and geographic information systems.
Program Structure
This 4-year program consists of eight terms, three technical sessions and a workterm.
First year: Two academic terms followed by a technical session
Second year: Two academic terms followed by a technical session
Third year: Two academic terms followed by a technical session and work term
Fourth year: Two academic terms
What You’ll Need
You must meet the Marine Institute’s Application and Admission Regulations either immediately upon graduation from high school, following a period of employment subsequent to graduation, or by transfer from another post-secondary institution. Application and admission to Memorial University for relevant courses will also be required at the beginning of the first technical session. In order to receive any one of the credentials, requirements for both the diploma and the degree must be successfully completed. You should possess strong skills in math and science to enter this program.
